The Tigers’ fortunes have taken a turn for the worse since Hull City’s attempt to bring Louie Barry back on a permanent basis stalled.
The intended deal for Louie Barry fell through because Hull City couldn’t meet the financial requirements. According to reports, HCAFC still had dreams of acquiring him from Aston Villa, but those hopes seemed unrealistic as the full extent of their financial problems became apparent.
Due to the Tigers’ financial difficulties, it has been reported that Championship rivals Sheffield United, under the leadership of former City manager Ruben Selles, are now anticipated to finalize a move for Barry.
Despite their continued activity on other fronts, Hull City’s predicament continues to cause concern. They will, however, be hoping to sign a new left-handed option.
Since Barry appears to be off the market, we offer three substitutes. HCAFC needs to concentrate on
Koumas Lewis of Liverpool
Lewis Koumas, a Liverpool prospect, has reportedly caught the attention of Hull City. Should Barry be off the market, the Welshman may be a good substitute.
HCAFC would not have to worry about paying a large transfer fee for his services because he is probably available on loan.
Similar to Barry, Koumas can play up front in an aggressive midfield on the left wing. He is a dynamic and adaptable attacker who demonstrated during a strong 2024–2025 season that he can play at the Championship level.
Tom Watson is going to Brighton & Hove Albion after his heroics in the Championship play-off final. Before a permanent transfer to the AMEX Stadium was agreed upon before the season ended, he had shown promise with Sunderland.
On the other hand, the Seagulls frequently loan out their young players before promoting them to senior football. Additionally, a Championship loan stint might help Watson’s development.
When Watson cuts in from the left onto his stronger right foot, he is at his most threatening. Because of this move, he was able to get Sunderland promoted at Sheffield United’s expense.
Simsir Aral of FC Midtjylland
At the moment, Hull City is subject to an embargo. They are contesting this, though, and even if it is upheld, they might try to negotiate credit agreements that include buyout options for when their embargo expires.
Aral Simsir is one player who might be the target of such a move; Hull City owner Acun Ilicali is using his connections in Turkey to his advantage by attempting to sign the 23-year-old compatriot, who now plays for FC Midtjylland in Denmark.
With seven goals and eleven assists in 39 games, Simsir just had the finest season of his career. He might be a fantastic choice for HCAFC, but only if their present financial circumstances improve.
