300 passengers evacuated from Norwich to London train

300 passengers evacuated from Norwich to London train.

Around 300 people were evacuated off a train heading from Norwich to London. A controlled evacuation took place just after 10 a.m. for customers on today’s 6 a.m. Norwich-London Liverpool Street train.

A Greater Anglia representative stated: “Services are disrupted after a tree fell onto overhead wires in the Colchester area this morning.

“Network Rail engineers attended the site and removed the tree, however, some of the debris caught on the overhead wire equipment of the 6am service, meaning this train was unable to move.” No one was wounded, and the passengers were transferred to another train that continued to London.

“We are very sorry for the delays on the Great Eastern Mainline today and we would encourage anyone who was on this train to contact us directly,” said the spokesperson.
