Portsmouth boss’ verdict of Tottenham Hotspur starlet’s Fratton stay ahead of January window

Portsmouth boss’ verdict of Tottenham Hotspur starlet’s Fratton stay ahead of January window.

The South Korean international has made an impact since joining Fratton Park from Spurs, and John Mousinho has now shared his latest comments on the former QPR player.

John Mousinho believes Min-hyeok Yang’s return to the starting lineup at Pompey has exceeded expectations.

And, as the January transfer window approaches, the Blues manager has voiced his happiness with the Spurs loanee’s contribution to his team’s season.

Yang was included to Mousinho’s team for Saturday’s postponed match against Charlton, his first game since a 4-0 defeat to Birmingham City at the start of last month. Taboola provides sponsored links.

Yang has now appeared for the Blues 12 times after signing a loan contract in August, including eight starts and four substitute appearances.

The South Korean international has two goals and an assist in that period, coming in three games against Watford, Middlesbrough, and Leicester.

Spurs will have the possibility to recall Yang next month, with just over three weeks until the January transfer market opens.

But Mousinho is pleased with what the former QPR player brings to his team, and he believes he is receiving the game exposure and growth that his parent club would like.

With Pompey’s forward options returning ahead of a demanding Christmas calendar, the Blues’ head coach believes the striker can help his side both as a starter and as a substitute.

Mousinho stated, “I think so (his loan term has gone as predicted). Despite Josh Murphy’s absence, he performed well and beyond expectations.

We remain optimistic about Min-hyeok and are delighted with his progress. I believe he has the ability to influence games from the bench, but he has done both.

He started games and affected matters from the bench. At times, he has started and looked extremely promising for us.

Three loanees whose future will be under January spotlight

Yang is one of three Pompey loanees whose continued involvement will be considered in the coming year.

The other choices are Ipswich’s Conor Chaplin and Swansea City’s Florian Bianchini, with room for more temporary signings if the trio stays at PO4 – five loanees are allowed in a matchday squad.

Chaplin’s homecoming was met with great enthusiasm, yet the academy graduate’s stay has not gone as well as expected thus far. Chaplin has yet to score a goal, but the 28-year-old was picked to Mousinho’s starting lineup for the first time in about a month at Charlton.

Meanwhile, Bianchini’s tenure at Pompey has not had the impact the Frenchman had hoped for.

The 24-year-old has one assist in six starts and five substitute appearances, and Bianchini will be absent tomorrow when the Blues travel to South Wales to face his native club.
