Preview: West Bromwich Albion vs Charlton Athletic – prediction, team news, lineups
West Bromwich Albion welcome Charlton Athletic on Tuesday evening, with manager Eric Ramsay looking for his first win.
Charlton Athletic are currently in 17th place in the Championship league, six points ahead of the home team in 21st.
When West Brom drew 0-0 with Stoke City and Birmingham City earlier this month, there was hope that they were making progress.
However, following Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at home to Championship leaders Coventry City, many of their fans demanded Ramsay’s dismissal after only eight games in command.
In addition to three draws and five defeats under their newly hired manager, the Baggies have failed to score in their previous four Championship games and only twice in their last seven overall.
Their sole normal-time win in the last 14 matches came on December 29 against Queens Park Rangers, 2-1.
While West Brom have generally been strong at The Hawthorns, they have only 23 points from 16 home games in 2025-26, with only 18 goals.
On a plus side, a win on Tuesday will bring the club within three points of their 17th-placed opponents, but Charlton will be hopeful of inflicting further agony on the West Midlands team.
Despite the sadness of last week’s 3-1 home defeat to Portsmouth, the Addicks have only lost once in five games.
Eight points have been earned in matches against Leicester City, Queens Park Rangers, Stoke City, and Southampton.
Nathan Jones marked his first return to St Mary’s on Saturday with a 1-1 tie against his previous club, where he played only 14 games.
Charlton now has a seven-point lead over the bottom three, although they have only three wins and 15 goals from 17 away games in the Championship this season.

Jones may choose not to make too many changes to his Charlton team for this game, unless he feels the need to bring in new players.
Miles Leaburn might replace Tyreece Campbell in attack, while Collins Sichenje, Charlton’s man-of-the-match on Saturday, will be evaluated after his first appearance in English football against St Mary’s.
