Huddersfield Town confirm Hartlepool United loan move for ‘highly-regarded’ Jay Sway

Huddersfield Town confirm Hartlepool United loan move for ‘highly-regarded’ Jay Sway.

Huddersfield Town have loaned out midfielder Jay Sway to National League side Hartlepool United.

This season, the 20-year-old has made six senior appearances for Huddersfield, three in the Carabao Cup and three in the Vertu Trophy.
He has largely played for the Terriers’ under-21 team, where he has emerged as one of Michael Tonge’s most talented players.

Sway, who can play in either midfield or defender, now appears to be heading for more senior experience in English football’s fifth division. He will stay with the Pools for the completion of the current season.

Sway remarked, “I’m delighted to be here. When I learned about the opportunity to come in, I knew I wanted to take it right away.

“I had excellent chats with the manager, and it was evident how much he wanted to bring me in and how I would fit into the team’s style of play. That increased my confidence in the move.

“At this point in my career, getting regular senior minutes is critical, and I see this as an excellent opportunity to advance my game.”

“You can sense the size of the club and what it represents to its fans. I am looking forward to performing in front of them and being a part of it.

play-offs, and I’m prepared to come in, work hard, and do everything I can to help the club.”
Sway has impressed in his first-team appearances, although he has yet to make the bench in a League One game this season.

However, a run of games in the National League may put him on Liam Manning’s radar heading into preseason.

Hartlepool United manager on new loan addition

Hartlepool manager Nicky Featherstone stated, “Jay is a player we’re really thrilled to have in the squad.

“He is still extremely young, but his qualities are obvious. He’s at ease on the ball, understands the game, and possesses the enthusiasm and attitude we seek in our group.

“He’s a highly rated young player at Huddersfield, and they see him as a future star, so bringing him here at this time is a huge advantage for us.

“We had nice chats with him, and it was evident he wanted to come here, train, and grow, which is always essential to us.”He also provides us flexibility. He can play in both midfield and defence, which is a huge advantage, especially given the upcoming games.

“We know what we’re striving towards from now until the end of the season. It’s about keeping focused, working hard every day, and giving ourselves the best chance of making the playoffs, and Jay can help us with that.”
