Man remanded on Dundee city centre attempted murder stabbing charge.

Billy Hawkins will return to court on a later date after a brief appearance in private.

A man has been remanded in custody following a brief appearance in court accused of attempted murder in Dundee’s city centre.

William Hawkins appeared in court for the alleged attack soon before 1 p.m. on Friday, October 10. A 45-year-old male was transferred to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.

It is understood that the alleged victim was stabbed in the neck. Police and paramedics rushed to the Reform Street and High Street area in response to what was initially characterised as a “disturbance”.

A modest cordon has been created around the Desperate Dan statue across from Chisholm Hunter Jewellers.

Hawkins, 39, was taken to the dock to answer a single claim on the petition. He is charged with attempting to murder the man by stabbing him.

During the brief private session, Hawkins’ solicitor, Jim Caird, made no motion for bail. Sheriff John Rafferty committed him for further investigation and remanded him in jail.
