Dundee thief’s crime spree from Broughty Ferry to Fife.

Lennon McKay, a sneak thief, raided residences and stole cars. A daring Dundee thief raided a Fife couple’s home and stole two automobiles during a crime spree.

Lennon McKay, who was on four separate bail conditions, took items from the couple, including a 50-inch television and an electric guitar.

He faces a significant jail sentence after admitting to stealing cars from various homes and making false card payments. In March, McKay was sentenced to eight months in prison for allowing a Doberman to maul a toddler.

Sneaky thief

According to Dundee Sheriff Court, McKay stole a woman’s Renault Clio from Forthill Drive in Broughty Ferry on January 15.

He snatched a handbag with £80 in cash, keys, and a pocketbook with bank and gift cards, as well as a driver’s licence. According to fiscal depute Jennifer Bairner, the property’s back door was unlocked, and the bag with the car keys was found on the kitchen table. McKay used the woman’s bank card to purchase £18.25 worth of food at Clark’s Bakery on Annfield Road.

Approximately three days later, McKay opened an unsecured Honda CRV on Sandyhill Road in Tayport and took bank cards, one of which was used at the Premier store on Albert Street in Dundee for £48 in items.

TV and guitar stolen

Around the same time, McKay and an unidentified accomplice stole a Nissan Micra and a Vauxhall Astra from a couple on Crawford Avenue in Gauldry.

The couple’s son left the home door open, and the alarm was triggered when a neighbour visited at around 8.30am to pass over cards found on Kilmany Road. Ms Bairner stated, “At this point, they discovered both of their vehicles had left the driveway.

“They observed items missing from the house, namely a wallet with three bank cards, a 50-inch Samsung smart TV, a red electric guitar and three car keys.” McKay spent more than £144 at two petrol stations and a Tesco in Dundee on January 19, as seen on CCTV.

The two vehicles were later discovered in the Douglas area, and McKay’s DNA was recovered inside the Micra.

Caught at court

On January 26, McKay broke into two vehicles at Strathgray Gardens and stole bank cards, currency, and aftershave.

One of the bank cards was used to cover the £23 cab charge for “Jack” on Balunie Crescent. McKay was eventually brought to justice, specifically in Dundee Sheriff Court, where he was arrested.

He was wearing the same trainers and trousers as the previous incident, which was captured on Ring doorbell footage. Sheriff Paul Ralph postponed sentencing until next month so that a social work report could be written.

McKay will be kept in detention at HMYOI Polmont.
