Marks & Spencer has disclosed numerous areas in Tayside, Fife, and Stirling where it plans to open new or expanded food stores.
The business is looking for larger grocery store sites where it can stock a comprehensive range of products. It comes as M&S plans to expand the size of its food business and renovate current stores.
The supermarket conglomerate has revealed a list of 500 areas where it intends to open new or larger stores.
M&S reveals list of target food store locations
This includes various locations in Dundee, Perth, Stirling, Angus, and Fife, some of which the retailer already has stores.
These are:
- Broughty Ferry
- Dunblane
- Dunfermline
- Glenrothes
- Inveralmond, Perth
- Montrose
- St Andrews
M&S claims there are no solid plans in place for any of the Tayside, Fife, or Stirling locations, and no information on how it will affect current stores in Broughty Ferry and St Andrews.
All proposed new stores would be in a new configuration, with a larger selection, broader aisles for larger shopping trolleys, and larger parking lots for more family shoppers.
The firm hopes to expand its shop estate to 180 full-line stores and 420 food outlets, with a goal area of 18,000 square feet.
Alex Freudmann, managing director of M&S Food, stated, “The strong performance of our new M&S food stores gives us the confidence to explore even more locations across the UK, from Elgin to Exmouth.”
“With more than 20 stores opening or being renovated before the end of the fiscal year, we are working quickly.
“Our team want new sites where we could open a large M&S Food store as we deliver on our strategy to bring the right stores to the right places and offer the best shopping experience, range and availability for our customers.”
