Aberdeen ‘exploring’ permanent Oday Dabbagh transfer as Ylber Ramadani windfall chance collapses

Aberdeen ‘exploring’ permanent Oday Dabbagh transfer as Ylber Ramadani windfall chance collapses.

Palestine international Dabbagh scored in the Dons’ penalty shootout victory over Celtic, which ended a 35-year wait for the Scottish Cup back in May.

Aberdeen are reportedly interested in signing striker Oday Dabbagh on a permanent basis, but the Palestine international is being pursued by two other clubs. The forward spent the second half of last season on loan at Pittodrie from Charleroi in Belgium, scoring four goals in 16 games, including a penalty kick in the decisive shootout victory over Celtic that helped Jimmy Thelin’s side win the Scottish Cup in May.

Thelin has signed striker Kusini Yengi on a free transfer from Portsmouth, but with the departure of Dabbagh and fellow loanee Kevin Nisbet, he is looking to strengthen his forward options ahead of a European campaign that will last until Christmas at the latest.

Dabbagh’s future in Belgium remains uncertain, with Charleroi reportedly willing to consider offers for the 26-year-old. According to reports in the Middle East, Aberdeen is considering signing him on a permanent basis. However, the report adds that Moroccan clubs Zamalek and Wydad Casablanca have also expressed interest, with the former’s sporting director John Edward said to have spoken with the player.

Meanwhile, the Dons are expected to miss out on a potential cash windfall for former midfielder Ylber Ramadani. The Albania international has been a regular for Serie A side Lecce since his £1.1 million transfer from Aberdeen in 2023, which included a 10% sell-on clause inserted by Aberdeen.

Ramadani has helped Lecce avoid relegation from Italy’s top tier in the previous two seasons and was linked with a shock move to San Siro giants Inter last year.

However, La Gazzetta Del Mezzogiorno now reports that Ramadani has rejected the Middle Eastern club.

They claim that the 29-year-old has turned down any offers from Al-Ain because he believes that leaving Italy will jeopardise his chances of remaining a key member of the Albanian national team setup. The Dons also have a reported 20% sell-on clause for Bologna captain Lewis Ferguson.

The Scotland star has been a revelation since his £3 million move from Pittodrie in 2022, leading his team to victory in the Coppa Italia last month. Ferguson has been linked with several top Serie A clubs, including Juventus, AC Milan, and 2025 Scudetto winners Napoli.
