Another blow for Leeds United as £6m Nottingham Forest star makes decision on Elland Road shift

As their striker problems persist, a Nottingham Forest player decides not to move to Elland Road, costing Leeds United another transfer battle.

A possible transfer war with Portuguese powerhouse Sporting CP was set up last week when it was rumored that Leeds United had entered the race for one Forest striker.

The club and supporters believed their prayers had been answered when Leeds lost out on Igor Paixao, who ultimately decided to join Marseille.

However, as their problems persist, the Whites have been struck yet another transfer setback.

Nottingham Forest v ACF Fiorentina - Pre-Season Friendly

It appears that Jota Silva will join Sporting CP rather than Leeds United.

Sporting CP has won the race for Jota Silva, according to Portuguese news source Record.

According to reports, Nottingham Forest and Sporting CP had another conversation yesterday and are drafting an agreement.

Sporting is happy, but Leeds United will miss out on another forward reinforcement that Daniel Farke has requested.

Silva was considered to be a dynamic attacker who could play as a center-forward, left winger, or right winger, giving Daniel Farke a great deal of tactical versatility in Leeds United’s lineup.

He might have offered a dynamic alternative to Joel Piroe or the recently signed Lukas Nmecha.

Silva played in 31 games during Nottingham Forest’s 2024–2025 Premier League season, making five starts and 26 substitute appearances. The Peacocks must start over from scratch once more.

Everton v Fulham - Carabao Cup Quarter Final

Leeds United must now concentrate on acquiring Beto from Everton.

Leeds United should put a higher priority on signing Beto because Everton boss David Moyes is willing to sell him. In addition to Piroe and Nmecha, this would provide Daniel Farke a useful attacking option to lead the line.

The transfer fees for the two players are much different, even if Jota Silva was a target. According to reports, Beto might cost Leeds over £30 million. On the other hand, Jota Silva is valued at approximately £13 million.

Even if Beto costs more, if he has a bigger impact and aids the team in reaching its objectives, it can be worthwhile to invest in him in the long term.

Beto scored 11 goals in his 60 Premier League games for Everton. His ability to fly is one of his main strengths; he wins a lot of duels and is a continual threat on crosses and set pieces. As a conventional target man, Beto could take the lead, occupying defenders with his strength to make room for mobile attackers like Joel Piroe.

It now makes sense to concentrate on Beto because he has a track record in the Premier League and a distinct physical attributes that might help the team right away.
