Aston Villa sign Jill Baijings from Bayern Munich after loan spell last season

Aston Villa have signed Dutch midfielder Jill Baijings on a permanent basis.

German powerhouse Bayern Munich has announced that Jill Baijings has joined Aston Villa on a permanent basis.

The 24-year-old, who spent the previous season on loan at the Women’s Super League (WSL) team, is joining for an unknown amount.

Last season, she made 15 appearances for Villa in all competitions.

Who is Jill Baijings, the recent addition to Aston Villa?

Jill Baijings, a 24-year-old Dutch midfielder who was born in Terheijden, just joined Aston Villa.

She began her career with Heerenveen of the Netherlands before joining SGS Essen of the Frauen’ Bundesliga in 2020.

After joining Bayer Leverkusen in 2022, Baijings made 22 appearances and scored seven goals.

She joined German rivals Bayern Munich after just one season at Leverkusen. She only made 14 appearances in two years, even though she won the German league title in 2024.

Due to an injury, Baijings missed the first half of the season after joining Aston Villa on loan last summer.

In the Women’s FA Cup match between Aston Villa and Bristol Rovers on January 12, the midfielder made her debut as a second-half substitute.

She played 15 games for Villa overall and scored one goal.

This summer, who else has Aston Villa signed?

The third player Aston Villa has added this summer is Jill Baijings.

Ellie Roebuck, the winner of Euro 2022, agreed to end her contract with Barcelona and was signed by the WSL team.

After struggling for starts at Barcelona, Roebuck—who had previously played for Manchester City—missed England’s Euro 2025 squad.

Along with winning the FA Cup and League Cup three times each with City, the goalie also won the Women’s Super League once. In her first year at Barcelona, Roebuck won both the league and the cup.

Lynn Wilms, a Dutch defender from VfL Wolfsburg, has also joined Villa.

The 24-year-old played more than 100 games for the two-time Women’s Champions League champions during her four years there.

At Euro 2025, she was a member of the Netherlands’ squad, which was eliminated in the group stage.

The WSL summer transfer window ends when?

On Thursday, September 4, Women’s Super League clubs will formally conclude their summer transfer window.

This summer has already seen a number of significant additions, such as Taylor Hinds joining Arsenal from Manchester City and Chloe Kelly arriving from Liverpool.

The transfer record for Olivia Smith, a standout for Liverpool, may soon be broken by Arsenal. According to reports, the two teams have reached an agreement that would make Smith the first female player to earn £1 million.
