Aston Villa’s final option looms as contract scenario risks millions
Even though Aston Villa has indicated that they want to retain Jacob Ramsey, his future remains uncertain.
The situation isn’t as clear-cut as it should be, but Aston Villa has stated their intention to retain Jacob Ramsey by proposing new terms.
One of the rare players to come out of the academy system and establish a professional career with the club in the past ten years is Ramsey, a local guy and fan from his youth.
Ramsey should be excited to play his part in vying for a trophy and make his 200th appearance for the football team next season.
Therefore, why is Ramsey’s future still up in the air even if Villa has offered him a new contract?
Villa would grudgingly sell at the proper price to prevent further stagnation because there had not yet been an agreement on terms.
Ramsey would only have 12 months left on his contract if he stayed with the team for the upcoming season without signing a new one.
Villa was adamant that Boubacar Kamara sign new terms because they cannot allow their players to enter the last year of their contracts.
Tyrone Mings and Lucas Digne are two different situations since Villa values them much more in the market than a potential transfer fee.
Because the contracts of Matty Cash, Youri Tielemans, and John McGinn expire in 2027, Villa also wants to sign them to new agreements.
In recent years, Ramsey has drawn interest from Tottenham, West Ham, and Newcastle United.
According to The Athletic, Newcastle has initiated negotiations with Villa to consider a move for Ramsey, and all sides are amenable to a deal.
As the window draws to a close, it seems like every possibility is still open, but Ramsey’s failure to commit to his future says a lot.
