Blackburn defender Miller faces nine months out.

Lewis Miller, a Blackburn and Australia defender, is anticipated to be out for up to nine months after rupturing his Achilles tendon.

It means the 25-year-old full-back will miss both the World Cup and the remainder of the season.

He was stretchered off the pitch early in the second half of last Saturday’s triumph over QPR at Loftus Road.

Miller, who signed from Hibernian last summer, had surgery on Monday evening.Miller, who was born in Sydney, has earned 20 caps for his country.

He made his Socceroos debut against England in October 2023 and was a key member of their World Cup qualification campaign.
