Blackburn man faces trial after denying raping a child.

A Blackburn man will stand trial next year after denying rape against a girl under the age of thirteen.

Wayne Cook, 37, also pleaded not guilty to causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity, causing a child under 13 to watch or look at sexual activity, and assaulting a girl under 13 by touching.

Cook entered his pleas at Preston Crown Court on Monday (August 4). It is claimed that the offences occurred between September and November 2022. Cook, of Heaton Street, will appear in court for a pre-trial review on July 24 of next year.

A trial was scheduled for September 21, 2026, and would last one week.
