Bosses want to keep popular Sheffield Wetherspoons open later into the night near Crystal Peaks.
The owners of a renowned Sheffield bar want to keep the doors open into the early hours.Wetherspoons intends to increase the hours of operation at the Scarsdale Hundred, a pub that opened in the former Damon’s Restaurant on Sevenairs Road near Beighton.

They have submitted a planning application to Sheffield Council, requesting that the condition tied to their opening times be changed, which, if approved, would be the first step toward the pub opening till 1.30am on some occasions.
It would require them to stay open from 7 a.m. to 1.30 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, Maundy Thursday, Sundays preceding a bank holiday, Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, and New Years Eve.
The outdoor drinking area would still close at 10.30 p.m., but the outdoor smoking area would remain open until 1.30 a.m. From Sunday to Thursday, it would be open from 7 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., with the outside drinking area closing at 10.30 a.
Wetherspoons has issued the council a statement supporting their application, which they say was created to protect everyone who lives, works, or does anything else near the pub, which is about 100 metres from people’s homes.
“The Scarsdale Hundred offers a diverse assortment of food and beverage services throughout the trading day, including those offered by typical licensed establishments, cafes, and restaurants.
This breadth of services, along with the type of operation of the Wetherspoon facilities, delivers significant benefits to the community, attracting people throughout the day and increasing the viability of the location.”
The company has also informed council planning officials that it is willing to accept a temporary extension of its opening hours to allow the impact to be reviewed over a 12-month period.
Damon’s restaurant was housed in a circular building. The bar is named after a historic administrative region that dates back to the Domesday Book in 1086.
