Boy, 15, arrested as teen critical after shooting.
A 15-year-old kid has been detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder after a 16-year-old boy was left “fighting for his life” after being shot in Sheffield.
South Yorkshire Police said the 16-year-old was found injured in London Road at 17:15 GMT on Monday and was transported to hospital, where he is still in critical condition. According to a statement from the force, the 15-year-old is in police custody.
Inspector Martin Simcock stated: “Gun crime, and violent crime has no place in South Yorkshire, and the fact that a young boy is fighting for his life is appalling and will not be tolerated.”
He said, “Detectives, cops, and forensics have been in the area today to secure evidence, but we need your assistance.
“I urge you to get in touch, no matter how small you believe your information to be, it could be the missing piece that we need.” This youngster and his family deserve answers, and we are determined to find them.
London Road was closed between Sitwell Place and the Crowther Place turn-off, but reopened on Tuesday afternoon.
Earlier, policemen were spotted conducting searches in the area, with a massive police cordon in place.
The force has stated that additional patrols will be in place in the region in the following days.

According to the BBC, one restaurant owner expressed his surprise, with a number of establishments forced to close while forensic examinations proceed.
Dari Saleh, the owner of Marmaris Turkish Restaurant, stated, “We work here all day and evening, and then something like this happens, we’re scared, our customers, our business, you don’t feel safe.”
Meanwhile, Abtisam Mohamed, Labour MP for Sheffield Central, expressed her “deep shock and sadness”.
“My thoughts are with him, his family and all those affected as they face what must be an unimaginably difficult time,” she told reporters.”
I urge anyone with information to contact South Yorkshire Police and help bring clarity to this incident.”
