Bus crashes into shop in east London.
A bus slammed into a business near a train station in east London.
At around 09:00 GMT, emergency personnel were summoned to Station Road near Manor Park Station, where they discovered a double-decker bus that had smashed into a shop.
According to Transport for London (TfL), there were no passengers on the bus when it crashed.
There were no life-threatening or life-changing injuries recorded, however one individual who was in the shop at the time was transported to the hospital for treatment.
The Metropolitan Police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances.
The situation was described as “just insane” by Ninoshan Jeyaseelan, the owner of the business where the bus crashed. He briefed BBC London:
“We just had a big bang sort of thing and the person who was driving (the bus), she was under shock herself.” Mr Jeyaseelan stated that his shop received slight damage. “I don’t know how long it’s gonna take to recover from it.” He finished by saying:
“No one’s majorly injured you know – thank God.” A TfL representative stated, “We’re very sorry for the damage and disruption caused when a route 474 bus collided with a shop building on Station Road.”
“Fortunately, there were no passengers on board the bus; nevertheless, a client in the shop at the time suffered a minor injury, and the bus driver was brought to the hospital as a precaution.
“We have resources available to anyone touched by this occurrence. We are assisting Go-Ahead, the operator, as they examine what occurred.
