Celtic ‘show interest’ in cut-price Huddersfield Town man Cameron Ashia.

Celtic have expressed an interest in Huddersfield Town winger Cameron Ashia, according to reports.

In the latest transfer rumour to surface in the absence of a permanent Celtic manager or Head of Football Operations, the Hoops are linked with a winger.

Despite signing Joel Mvuka in January, Martin O’Neill was linked with a number of wide targets.

Ashia, 19, is generating a lot of interest, with a race scheduled for the summer.

Huddersfield Town’s Cameron Ashia attracts Celtic interest

According to the Daily Mail via the 72, the Celtics are keeping an eye on Ashia, whose contract is slated to expire at the end of the season.

Rangers and Hearts are said to be interested, as are a number of English Championship clubs. Ashia formerly attended Derby County’s youth academy.

This is his breakout season with the Terriers, yet only two of his seventeen League One appearances have come from the start.

He assisted up Ryan Hardie’s winner against Luca Connell’s Barnsley at the weekend, his sixth goal of the season.

He is also the nephew of Callum Hudson-Odoi, the Nottingham Forest winger who received a £35 million bid from Bayern Munich during his Chelsea career.

League One has occasionally proven to be a profitable market for Celtic throughout the years.

Matt O’Riley was one of the finest players in the division until Ange Postecoglou won the fight to sign him in 2022. Damir Redzic, Fares Ghedjemis, and Yaser Asprilla were among the wingers linked to the Hoops in January.

Luis Palma is presently on loan at Lech Poznan from Celtic, and fellow washout Marco Tilio also left the club before the season began.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Chris Sutton was sceptical that O’Neill is completely delighted with the club’s January transfer window. He stated: “He was in good spirits and expressed satisfaction with the club’s business.

I’m not convinced, as I believe O’Neill was putting on a brave face. “Is he genuinely happy? “O’Neill will never say otherwise, but I have my suspicions, especially about the players’ arrival on deadline day.

“Junior Adamu and Joel Mvuka have struggled in recent years and may be arriving with something to prove.”

Benjamin Arthur is a highly rated young Brentford player, but he has had limited first-team experience, and it just takes an injury or suspension for him to be forced into games like the Ibrox derby.

“That might be a big ask.The feeling is that my old Celtic boss could use all the aid he can get.”
