Charlton Athletic boss lays Hibs praise on thick after transfer deal as Hibees ace seeks international reward

Charlton Athletic boss lays Hibs praise on thick after transfer deal as Hibees ace seeks international reward.

A manager at an EFL club has been left applauding Hibs, hoping that the club will be the appropriate home for his bright young player to flourish.

The Hibees missed the transfer deadline earlier this week, but they were able to complete transactions in time to announce two trades later.

Midfielder Dan Barlaser has joined on loan from Middlesbrough, and centre-back Zach Mitchell has signed a season-long contract with fellow English Championship side Charlton Athletic.

Nathan Jones, the manager of the team that plays at The Valley, is overjoyed that Mitchell has gained this contract after spending last season in the Premiership with St Johnstone.

He has praised Hibs as a club and promises to keep a close eye on the defender’s improvement while they compete in the English second tier.

He stated, “We’re thrilled that Zach has landed a decent loan to a big club. Obviously, he performed well in Scotland last year and will now face another task. Zach has demonstrated his ability to advance to our first team.

“But, with the competition he faces and game time being limited here, it’s critical that he continues his development, and Hibernian is an excellent club for him to do it at. We’ll keep a close eye on him and are excited to see what he can do.”

Meanwhile, Hibs defender Jack Iredale hopes to earn his maiden cap for Australia. He has been called up to the Socceroos squad, along with teammate Martin Boyle and ex-Hibs star Lewis Miller, for a double-header against New Zealand, with Iredale serving as an unused substitute in the first match, which Australia won 1-0.

As a youth, the defender dealt with three consecutive ACL injuries yet still played for Australia’s U17 team.

With this being his second camp, he is eager to serve whatever role is expected of him, as he benefits from seeing familiar faces in the locker room.

He stated, “It’s another step in the direction I want to go.”

Anyone who knows me and my football path understands how much representing my country means to me. It’s something I’ve always wanted.

“With this opportunity to be involved in this camp, I just need to put my best foot forward and be prepared for whatever role is required.

There are several boys I recall from the previous camp as well,” he remarked. I went to primary school with Cam Burgess and have known him for almost 20 years.

Boyle and Millsy have made me feel very comfortable. “Seeing all the players and staff I met in Abu Dhabi, it’s a really nice environment to be in.”
