Charlton Athletic handed double Leicester City boost as Nathan Jones drops enticing transfer hint.

Leicester City travel to The Valley this weekend to face Charlton Athletic. Charlton Athletic have received a double injury boost ahead of their tricky match against Leicester City at The Valley this weekend.

Nathan Jones’ side is still unbeaten this season after a thrilling late win against Watford and a 0-0 draw at Bristol City, with a 3-1 Carabao Cup victory over Stevenage sandwiched between those league games. The Addicks will next face Leicester City.

Under new manager Marti Cifuentes, the Foxes are aiming for immediate promotion back to the Premier League, but they have had a slow start. An opening-weekend victory over Sheffield Wednesday was followed by a cup defeat to Huddersfield Town and a league defeat to Preston North End.

Charlton Athletic handed double injury boost

Charlton Athletic will be boosted by the two consecutive defeats, as well as positive injury news this week. Jones confirmed on Thursday that centre-back Reece Burke had returned to full training this week.

The 28-year-old was signed from Luton Town for an undisclosed fee this summer, but he suffered an injury during pre-season training.

He hasn’t played since the start of the competitive season, but he’s about to return. Will Mannion, Charlton Athletic’s custodian, missed the draw against Bristol City due to a’minor accident’ but is now available for selection and could face Leicester City.

Mannion played the full 90 minutes in the cup against Stevenage, but he will most likely play second fiddle to summer signing Thomas Kaminski in the Championship.

Nathan Jones drops Addicks transfer hint

Jones was also questioned about any future Charlton Athletic transfer deals. The London outfit completed several deals early in the window and has already brought nine new faces through the door.

There aren’t likely to be many more new arrivals at The Valley, but Jones hinted that there might be room for one more. According to journalist Richard Cawley, “We probably want to add at least one body.

We know what position we need. Perhaps we should first ensure that our numbers are good.”

The manager also discussed outgoings, saying, “The club has been fantastic in supporting us, and they then trusted us to put players out and develop the assets.

We’ve done it. Gassan has a great move and has started off well.

Alex Mitchell has made a move. Kaheim has gone and is now in a wonderful place. It is critical that, even if they do not have an immediate impact on us, we continue to develop the asset and send them to the appropriate clubs.”
