Christmas lights switch-on events in Lowestoft and Southwold.
The annual Christmas lights switch-on spectaculars will return to two seaside communities this month, promising festive fun and entertainment for all.
The holiday season will begin in style in little over two weeks, with Lowestoft and Southwold both celebrating the most wonderful time of the year on Saturday, November 29.

The popular Lowestoft Christmas lights switch-on event and Southwold’s stunning Christmas lights switch-on will both take place on the same day, with lots of fun, family-friendly activities, and holiday cheer.

Talented local entertainers will perform, followed by pantomime, festive cheer, live music from Uptown Nights, and a visit from Father Christmas, who will turn on the lights at 5 p.m. alongside Lowestoft Mayor Cllr Nasima Begum.

And, ahead of the big switch-on, Lowestoft Vision, the town’s Business Improvement District, which supplies the yearly Christmas lights for the town centre, announced that they will be joined by a variety of organisations and stalls on the day.
These include Tini’s Fudge, Waterlane Leisure Centre, Marina Theatre, a classic bus from the East Anglia Transport Museum, St Elizabeth Hospice, Essex and Suffolk Water, Access Community Trust, Compass Fostering, and the WOW Bus (Wellness on Wheels).

There will also be free parking throughout the day in East Suffolk Council car parks. A spokesperson for Lowestoft Vision explained: “The event is one of the biggest in Lowestoft’s festive calendar and promises a fantastic start to the Christmas season for families, shoppers and visitors across the town.”
Light Up Southwold, which raises funds throughout the year for the switch-on spectacular, said the High Street will be “flooded with market stalls and a stage featuring live festive entertainment”. Santa will magically light up Southwold as the Christmas lights are turned on from the Town Hall balcony at 5 p.m.
A free Santa’s grotto is held in the Adnams tour centre at the back of the Swan Hotel from 5.30pm.
