Cider lout urinated on floor during arrest in Blackburn.
A woman who spat at police officers and then staged a nasty protest has been sentenced.
Claire McMillan spit at two officers after being arrested, according to Blackburn Magistrates’ Court. She then urinated on the floor of the prison suite at Greenbank Police Station in Blackburn.
McMillan, 43, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting a police officer, being drunk and disorderly, causing criminal damage to the police station floor, and stealing a can of cider.
She was jailed for 16 weeks.
Prosecutor Bryony Cook said workers at B&M Bargains in Burnley stopped McMillan on August 26 as she attempted to leave without paying for a case of cider. She managed to get a solitary can for £6.50 and exited the store.
She was drinking from a can when she was nabbed by a police officer on patrol in the town centre. In the other incident, an officer approached McMillan to deliver a community protection warning.
McMillan flung it to the ground, and the officer scooped it up and placed it in her pocket. McMillan was shouting and swearing at members of the public, and when an officer attempted to arrest her, she spat at her.
“She was taken to Greenbank custody suite, where she dropped her trousers and urinated on the floor,” according to Mrs. Cook.
“As she was being booked in by the custody sergeant, the defendant spat in her face.” Lucy Williams, in mitigation, stated that her client claimed not to remember the episodes owing to her alcohol and drug abuse.
“She takes no issue with the facts,” Miss Williams stated. “She feels disgusted by her behaviour and is deeply sorry. She badly wants help. with her concerns.
