Classic cars to drive down Colchester High Street for Movember.

An extraordinary collection of 50 historic automobiles will drive through Colchester to raise money for men’s health.

Jon Stevens, 51, built Frank’s Motorcycles in Turkey Cock Lane in memory of his father, who died of cancer on New Year’s Eve in 1998. While working hard to maintain his humanitarian spirit, the team at Frank’s Motorcycles hosted the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride in Colchester earlier this year, raising more than £14,600 for Movember.

This weekend, Mr Stevens will bring the Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive to Colchester for the first time, with over 50 classic vehicles rolling down the High Street in a stylish convoy instead of motorcycles.

He remarked, “We have a wide range of different autos. It’s more inclusive than bikes, an incredible experience that you can share with others in the car. “I’m most excited to do it with my mum and to see her face when she sees the car.”

Mr Stevens will drive his mother, 88-year-old Joan Stevens, in a surprise Spitfire to commemorate her time with husband Frank and the car they used to own.

In 2024, Mr Stevens launched Frank’s Motor Company with Will Ralph, a first-generation farmer who had battled prostate cancer.

Mr Ralph, 63, said: “I’m most pleased to see all those magnificent antique automobiles driving down the High Street, as well as the total amount we raise for men’s health.

“Prostate cancer and men’s mental health affect so many men now, so any awareness is fantastic. It’s a severely unspoken-about issue. “Get it early, get your PSA test day and get it caught.”

“Thank you to all our friends, family and farm shop customers who donated to put me in that position,” Ralph told me.

“I’m overwhelmed with the support and can’t thank everyone enough.” The drive will begin at Frank’s at 11.30 a.m. on Sunday, September 28, and will end before midday on Colchester High Street.
