The project is the first part of a 10-year £200 million investment by real estate company Vengrove, which will be finished in January 2027. It receives Enterprise Zone money from Norfolk County Council and South Norfolk Council.

Andrew McLean, partner and head of development at Vengrove, stated that the project has the potential to create 750,000 sq ft of “world-class” apartments.

This relationship will help unlock economic and social value for the community while also supporting the cutting-edge science being conducted across campus,” he said.

According to Roz Bird, CEO of Anglia Innovation Partnership, the campus management company for Norwich Research Park, “The new building will meet the needs of a number of successful high-growth companies that benefit from access to our 3,000-strong research community that is working to find new solutions in food production, diet, nutrition, and human health, as well as industrial processes.”

Construction is also underway on a £317 million infrastructure project at the park’s John Innes Centre and Sainsbury Laboratory, which is being sponsored by UK Research and Innovation.

The project’s goal is to establish a global hub for plant and microbial research by 2030, revolutionising both institutions’ current capacity and competence.
