Controversial preacher Ollie Sabatelli is leaving Brighton

Controversial preacher Ollie Sabatelli is leaving Brighton.

A street preacher who was previously barred from the city has announced his departure.

Ollie Sabatelli is well-known for preaching at Brighton’s clock tower on a daily basis and posting recordings of himself doing so on social media. He has 91,000 followers on Instagram and 184,000 on TikTok.

Many Brightonians have shown strong opposition to his message, notably his preaching about what the Bible says about homosexuality.

Ollie posted a video on social media last month alleging that he had been issued a dispersion order that barred him from visiting Brighton for 24 hours on August 29.

He claimed this was due to “preaching out the Bible” and that he was “always having the police called on [him]”. However, in his most recent TikTok video, the Christian preacher claimed that his “Brighton mission is over”.

In the video, he says, “Now, as you can see, we’ve both been working extremely hard. I’ve been preaching nonstop in Brighton for the past nine months, while my brother Jesse has been in Croydon.

“The Lord has called both of us into a new season now. We’ve worked hard, done our best, and the Lord’s Spirit has lifted his favour.

“It’s a new season now, we’ve come together and we are going to be travelling around wherever the lord sends us.”

He reveals that he has “eyes on Guildford” and hopes to take his preaching to the United States. He finishes the video by saying, “Brighton, it’s been a journey.”

“We’ve got a love, hate relationship, but I will back to preach in Brighton at some point – but for now I’ve got to be obedient to the spirit.”
