Cottage fire on the A35 Lyndhurst Road on Monday night

Monday night, there was a cottage fire on the A35 Lyndhurst Road.

Just before nine o’clock at night, the cottage on the A35 Lyndhurst Road in Hinton caught fire.

When crews arrived, no one was on the property, according to Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. The fire’s origin is uncertain. Ten fire engines and an aerial ladder platform vehicle responded to the scene at its peak. To combat the fire, firefighters employed hose reel jets, main jets, and breathing apparatus.

Because of the smoke in the vicinity, people were told to keep their windows and doors closed during the incident. In order to make room for emergency vehicles, people were also asked to stay away from the area of the A35 in Hinton between Ringwood Road and Dark Lane. Five fire engines were still on the site to continue putting out the fire while the event was being reduced down by 10.30 p.m.”We expect to have a presence on scene for several more hours,” a Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service representative stated. The roof was “destroyed” in the fire, according to a witness, and the cottage was “severely damaged.” The A35 was closed for “several hours,” according to the witness.
