Coventry house fire live as blaze shuts busy road.
A home fire in Coventry has closed a major thoroughfare this morning. Firefighters were dispatched to a portion of Walsgrave Road at 6.30 a.m.
The incident, which has closed parts of the road, has drawn multiple crews from around the city, with several stations, including Coventry and Canley, being manned by cover crews from outside Coventry.
The West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service issued a social media message shortly before 7 a.m. to inform followers about the fire.
“We have four crews on the scene at Walsgrave Road, Stoke, Coventry, where they have responded to a house fire,” the post added.
“Road closures are in place between Shakespeare Street and Church Lane. Please avoid the area wherever possible.” We contacted the service’s press office for more information.
Because of the incident’s location and the fact that Walsgrave Road connects Wyken and Stoke to the A444 and the city centre, traffic is expected to be heavy on today morning’s work and school journey.
We have contacted West Midlands Police for comment, as well as the West Midlands Ambulance Service for information.
West Midlands Ambulance Statement
The West Midlands Ambulance Service informed CoventryLive that they rushed a unit to the location but were stood down after searching the premises.
The spokeswoman stated, “We were called by the fire service to a fire at a property on Walsgrave Road in Coventry at 6.32 a.m. and sent a paramedic officer to the scene.” After a thorough check of the property, no patients were discovered, thus we were stood down.”
