Coventry vigil will mark lives of women killed at the hands of men in the last yea.

A vigil in Coventry will commemorate the lives of women killed by males each year. Local group. Coventry Counts Dead Women aims to mourn the lives lost while also raising awareness of the issue.

This year, the vigil will take place on Saturday (29). November) between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Smithford Way. It is being celebrated in conjunction with International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

The focal point will be a display of shoes, one pair for each woman killed in the previous year. Their names will be read out every hour.

There will be speeches, music, and poetry. There will also be information available on support programs for women who are currently facing domestic abuse.

Attendees will include Coventry MP Mary Creagh, West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster, and West Midlands Victims’ Advocate Natalie Queiroz.

Several city officials will attend, as well as local charities and service organisations who have consented to participate. Singer-songwriter Nehanda will play at lunchtime.
