Danny Ings can surprise Saints with Championship success on one condition

Danny Ings can surprise Saints with Championship success on one condition.

Danny Ings, according to Lee Hendrie, could be crucial to Middlesbrough’s promotion if the ex-Saint is paired with top five Championship striker Tommy Conway.

It’s only been a day since Danny Ings’ Middlesbrough rumours surfaced, but the news has already sparked strong emotions at St. Mary’s. And, given the Boro’s concern about the ex-Saint’s promotion chances, the slightly unaware Saints fans have been drawn in as well.

However, while fan perspectives have occasionally deviated from reality, the general idea brewing in Ings’ case is spot on.

The player has not played in the Championship since the 2013/14 season, when he represented Burnley. And, while the player’s abilities are undeniable, it may take a lot from Ings to turn things around after a disappointing football season.

Now, Ings’ Middlesbrough case feels rough on the surface, but apparently, Saints might be in for a shock.

Danny Ings tipped to form a decisive duo with Tommy Conway

Recently, pundit Lee Hendrie proposed an intriguing scenario in which Danny Ings could still turn heads in the Championship.

That’s due to Ings’ potential link-up with top five Championship goal scorer Tommy Conway, who could help Middlesbrough emerge as a promotion favourite.

Speaking to Football League World, Hendrie discussed Boro’s Ings rumours, saying: “I think taking that step down, I know he’s got experience, but when you’ve got the likes of Tommy Conway who can run in-behind, that

partnership could be deadly in the Championship.” Needless to say, no Saint would have predicted this possibility, but the fact that it has a good chance of becoming a reality should have supporters concerned.

And what’s even more gruesome? Its evidence dates back to Southampton’s dressing room itself.
