Death of South African-born Norwich man sparks investigation.
The death of a South African-born man in the city has prompted an investigation by the coroner’s office.
Miles Franklin died in Norwich eight months ago, after being found unresponsive at his home in the Lakenham neighbourhood. Mr Franklin died in November, but an inquest into his death was only held last week.
During a brief hearing at Norfolk Coroner’s Court, Samantha Goward, senior coroner for Norfolk, confirmed his birth date of July 16, 1979, in South Africa.
She added that he worked as a printing engineer and lived on Theobald Road. He was last seen alive on November 14, but his body was discovered four days later in his home.
His medical cause of death was bronchopneumonia, which was exacerbated by chronic alcohol consumption and a low body mass index.
Mrs Goward adjourned the inquest until 2 p.m. on November 11, with the hearing expected to last two hours.
