Derek McInnes make ‘hardest working’ claim on Hearts star as former manager makes title prediction.
Kazakhstan international won, allowing Jam Tarts to maintain their lead. Derek McInnes described Islam Chesnokov as one of the hardest-working wingers he has ever worked with after the January signing scored his first goal for Hearts, boosting their title aspirations.
The Kazakhstan international, who came from FC Tobol, has being eased into his new surroundings as he strives to catch up after his native country’s domestic season finished in October.
But McInnes is excited by the way Chesnokov is tracking after he had his first major moment in maroon on Saturday, poking home the only goal in the 45th minute of the Jambos’ 1-0 home triumph over Falkirk.
“It was such a good finish,” stated the manager. “He’s also improving. You may not see him for extended periods of time, but he is a moment player.
I believe he is headed in the correct direction. He has the faith of all his teammates, and we can see how honest he is.”He operates like a Trojan. He’s definitely the most hard-working wide player I’ve worked with. And we believe he is improving in quality.
He had a shot in the second half, and the Falkirk boy made a great block as it flew towards the goal. He has that quality. And I believe he is slowly but steadily finding his path and feeling a part of it.
McInnes is coping with a long number of injuries, including important players Cammy Devlin, Lawrence Shankland, Oisin McEntee, Beni Baningime, Ageu, and Stephen Kingsley.
But beaten Falkirk manager John McGlynn, who led the Jambos in 2012-13, feels his former club is ready to compete at the top of the league.
“You’ve got to give Hearts enormous credit to be where they are,” stated the CEO.
“Their recruitment has been excellent, and they have a tremendous home record. I believe they will be there till the end. They’ve sustained injuries, thus they have problems, but so do most people.
They have players coming back from injuries. “We know that Shankland and Devlin are coming back so they might get stronger as the season goes on.”
Despite their defeat at Tynecastle, McGlynn’s side leads seventh-placed Dundee United by ten points with two games remaining.
However, the manager is determined to guarantee the Bairns secure a top-six spot with plenty of room to spare. “We want to consolidate this position,” he told me.
“We want to do it ourselves; we don’t want other teams to beat each other.” We want to gain as many points as possible on our own board. We have a good cushion there. But that is all it is.It can vanish rapidly if we don’t do our share.”
