Disruption to Dundee and Fife trains after Forth Bridge signalling fault.
On Friday afternoon, a problem with the bridge was resolved.
Train services in Dundee, Perth, and Fife were disrupted due to a failure on the Forth Bridge.
Services between Dalmeny and North Queensferry were suspended on Friday morning due to a signalling system problem.
The problem was originally reported at 7 a.m., and certain trains between Dundee and Edinburgh were cancelled as a result.
Repairs completed later in the day were “not successful,” with disruption lasting into the afternoon.
Services ‘returning to normal’ after Forth Road Bridge fault
However, an update shortly after 2pm verified that the problem had been resolved, with services returning to normal.
The ScotRail website showed that services will continue to run on time for the remainder of the day.
The problem resulted in the cancellation of services between Edinburgh and Perth, as well as between Edinburgh and Leven/Kinghorn.
Trains between Edinburgh and Leven, Dundee, Aberdeen, and Cowdenbeath were also delayed. Stagecoach East Scotland Buses currently accepts tickets.
An update from Network Rail on X stated: “Good news. The issue has been resolved, and services between Edinburgh and Fife are now back to normal.
“We’re now focused on getting services back on time ahead of the evening peak tonight.”
