Sussex Police said emergency services were alerted to a fire in Peacehaven about 9.50 p.m. on Saturday.
On Sunday, a doorbell video surfaced, showing a person on the steps at the mosque’s entrance, as well as another person standing at the bottom. Both wore balaclavas.
Moments later, the fire breaks out, and someone runs to safety from within the building.
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood described the mosque attack as “deeply concerning” and asked people to “stand united”.
Photos from the scene showed a burnt-out automobile in front of the mosque’s door. According to the authorities, no one was hurt, and the event is being investigated as a hate crime.
