Dozens of Edinburgh police lock down Princes Street as tape erected outside Waverley.

Officers have blocked off a section of Princes Street due to an emergency. Concerned residents phoned Edinburgh Live at 1.20pm on Saturday, November 1 to report that the area had been roped off by Police Scotland.

In an image shared with Live, hundreds of officers can be seen standing watch around a taped-off area at Waverley Market.

One eyewitness stated that police had informed them that a’serious event’ was taking place.

Tape is obstructing the pavement from the top of the Waverley steps leading into the capital rail station and appears to extend along the walkway to the neighbouring bus stop before Waverley Bridge.

Officers were observed parked on the opposite side of the street, in front of Barclays Bank.

The incident’s nature is unknown at this time.Police Scotland has been sought for comment.
