Drivers delayed by Carrow Road closure before Birmingham game

Drivers delayed by Carrow Road closure before Birmingham game.

Drivers are experiencing delays due to an emergency closure of Carrow Road. A section of the road near Norwich City FC’s home pitch has been closed due to a sewer collapse.

Drivers on Riverside Road are seeing delays today as they approach the stadium.

Today, about 27,000 football fans are anticipated to attend Norwich City’s home game against Birmingham at 3 p.m.

Delays on an AA map (Image: AA) “This will cause major delays in the area, especially for supporters heading to Saturday’s football match,” a Norfolk County Council spokesman warned yesterday. “Please allow extra travel time and follow the signed diversion.”

The closure is expected to persist until early next week. “Anglian Water are in attendance and will be working to reopen the road as quickly as possible.”

The shutdown only affects traffic into Norwich.Outbound motorists should avoid the A1242 Yarmouth Road and instead take the A1042 (Pound Lane Ring Road), B1140 (Plumstead Road), and A147 (Riverside Road)

.Alternatively, cars can use the A47 and enter Norwich through Trowse.

Anglian Water has been approached for comment.
