Drivers warned as Warwickshire motorway faces a week of closures.
From March 2 to March 6, the M40 southbound between Gaydon Junction 12 and Banbury Junction 11 will be closed overnight from 10.15 p.m. to 6 a.m. A major Midlands motorway will be closed for a week, disrupting tens of thousands of people.
A UK motorway has been closed for a week, causing rush-hour mayhem for drivers. The M40 has been blocked for repairs and roadworks, with the section between junctions 12 for Gaydon and 11 for Banbury shut overnight for the entire week.
The M40 motorway is an important highway connecting London, Oxford, and Birmingham.
The motorway will be blocked from 10.15 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (March 2-6).
This closure is expected to cause delays for traffic, notably lorry drivers, entering Oxfordshire for the A34 at Bicester or continuing southbound from the Midlands to the M25, London, or Heathrow Airport.
According to Birmingham Live, the northbound carriageway will stay open during this time period.
National Highways stated: “Lane closures, slip road closures, and a diversion route for maintenance work.”Diversion via the national highway network.
HGV drivers entering Oxfordshire via the A34 at Bicester or continuing southerly from the Midlands to the M25, London, or Heathrow Airport will be the most affected.
According to the National Highways website, the motorway will be blocked from 10.15pm to 6am on March 2–6.

National Highways states on its website: “If you are travelling in the early morning, please note that your route may be impacted by closures starting the evening before.”
The statement adds that “we implement reduced speed limits on sections of our motorway network while undertaking essential maintenance and upgrades to our traffic management systems.”
This will be accompanied by extra traffic officer patrols to assist customers and respond to occurrences.
