Dundee Overgate Superdrug expansion adds new beauty treatments and nurse clinic as jobs grow.

The expansion into the former Clintons unit is now completed.

Superdrug has completed the extension of its Overgate store, increasing its shopfloor capacity to about 10,000 square feet.

The retailer expanded into the former Clintons card area on the mall’s ground floor, increasing its overall size by 35%.

Superdrug now offers extra cosmetic and makeup services instore, as well as ear-piercing, manicures and eye-brow-threading for the first time.

In addition, the newly renovated pharmacy now has an in-house private nurse. Overgate manager Malcolm Angus described the development as “a resounding vote of confidence” in the centre.

Superdrug’s expansion follows the transformation of the former flagship Debenhams store into a Frasers — including Sports Direct and USC — which opened earlier this summer.

Following Quiz’s bankruptcy earlier this year, the Clintons moved into the former Quiz fashion area, also on the ground floor.

Overgate Superdrug expansion complete

Superdrug Overgate now boasts what is known as a “prime corner location” in the shopping mall.

It has increased its footprint by more than 35%, from 7,125 sq ft to 9,739 sq.

ft. As a result, several new positions have been added to the store’s workforce.

Overgate manager Malcolm Angus said: “We are thrilled to report that the Superdrug extension is now officially complete, with the new store providing a much enhanced shopping experience for our customers.

“The opening of new beauty studios, each offering a variety of popular and reasonably priced beauty treatments, is an exciting trend.

“And Superdrug’s pharmacy has been enhanced with a new face-to-face private nurse clinic, providing a welcome tailored healthcare service.

“Superdrug’s pledge is a strong vote of confidence in Overgate and the future of brick-and-mortar retail in the centre.
