Dundee skipper Simon Murray joins lifelong fan for launch of new Dee anthem.
Murray will appear alongside Craig Weir to promote the latter’s new single, One Team For Me.
Dundee FC hero Simon Murray has collaborated with a world-renowned city piper to release a new track commemorating their shared passion of the Dark Blues.
Lifelong Dee Craig Weir, who has performed on big venues all around the world with the likes of Queen and The Libertines, will be in conversation with club captain Simon at Assai Records in Union Street on Wednesday evening to celebrate the release of his new track, One Team For Me.
In addition to the question-and-answer session with fans, Craig will perform a few Dundee songs and autograph copies of the limited edition blue and white vinyl seven-inch single, which Craig and his band The Cabalistic Cavalry recently recorded.
Those who purchase a copy will be entered into a prize draw for a Dundee FC training top autographed by the first team.
The record’s B-side has a Dundee Social Club Remix, created by the dance pair Billy Morris and Matty Miller.
Craig has already worked with the club on a number of projects, including raising funds for the academy during Covid, and he says he is always eager to assist the club wherever possible.
He adds the song came about because he realised the club’s other anthems, Up Wi’ The Bonnets and Johnny Scobie, were “kind of heritage songs and feel a wee bit dated.”
Craig went on to say, “I just thought they were looking backwards, and it might be time, when the club has a big forward vision for a new stadium and things, for me to write a song that is looking forward.” “But the name, One Team For Me, is derived from a line in Up Wi’ The Bonnets, so it also references that.
“I started writing it about two years ago, after Motherwell released a song that reached the UK charts, so I approached Dundee and offered we collaborate.
