Dundee Sheriff Court heard how Hegarty, aged 19, “acquired” positive pregnancy tests and mailed them during the campaign.

The man had been kicked out of the flat he shared with Hegarty after a dispute, and he had blocked her on all platforms, believing the relationship was finished.

However, Hegarty refused to accept this, and matters escalated when he attempted to reclaim his land, accompanied by family members.

Fiscal depute Sam Craib stated, “The accused said ‘go away’ and ‘that’s it, I’m throwing your stuff out the window.'”

“The accused began to throw goods out the second-floor window, including plates, watches, and a PlayStation 5.

“The accused was asked to stop and the police were contacted.”

Banking app bombardment

Officers warned Hegarty about her actions, but she continued to pursue the man, even through Monzo.

The court heard how Hegarty sent communications using the reference number part of the online transactions. She said things like, “Please meet me.” I am at the back of the Overgate. “Come get your hamster.”

“Tell the c***s to get away from my door.” The man received dozens of texts and calls from Hegarty and anonymous TikTok, Snapchat, and Facebook accounts, all of which were blocked.

Despite being warned by the man’s family to leave, Hegarty and his pals remained outside his home for extended periods of time.

She even managed to track the buses he was taking, forcing the man to hide with a family friend. The court heard that he was “scared” and “panicked” by Hegarty’s behaviour.

Pregnancy tests

Hegarty, now 20, yelled through a Ring doorbell at the address, “I want my dead f*****g hamster’s cage back.” Mr. Craib stated, “The accused was asked to leave.

“She proceeded to post two pregnancy tests through the letterbox and then ran off.”Hegarty, a Dundee resident, returned to court for his punishment after preparing a social work report.

“She obtained a false pregnancy test,” counsel Joe Myles explained. “She presents as very immature, and the study concludes that her actions was motivated by emotional discomfort and immaturity.

“At the time of the offence, she had a prescription for antidepressants but was not using them.

“She was hoping for a reconciliation and the complainer clearly wasn’t.”

‘Manipulative’

Sheriff John Rafferty, who described her offences as “manipulative,” said: “This is extremely intense conduct over a very brief period.”

Hegarty interrupted to say that the man had “abandoned” her with “two animals”.The sheriff responded, “That doesn’t do you any favours. “It indicates that you were attempting to deliberately contact him and cause him distress.”

Hegarty was sentenced to 13 months of supervision and ordered to conduct 105 hours of unpaid work as an alternative to jail. She was also placed under a two-year non-harassment order.
