Dundee star in Hibs compliment after thriller as late heroics sum up how rival feels about David Gray’s team

Dundee star in Hibs compliment after thriller as late heroics sum up how rival feels about David Gray’s team.

The on-loan Swansea City forward was a thorn in Hibs’ side at the weekend, but he has paid an Easter Road compliment.

A Dundee player has summed up their squad’s attitude toward Hibs, stating that a point against the Easter Road team is considered a victory.

A six-goal thriller unfolded at Dens Park, with Steven Pressley’s hosts holding David Gray’s visitors at 3-3.

Dundee responded to Hibs’ opener from Owen Elding, but late goals from Ante Suto and Jamie McGrath cancelled out Luke Graham and Simon Murray’s scores.

Cameron Congreve, on loan from Swansea City, then curled a superb long-range shot into the bottom corner to share the spoils and allay any remaining fears of relegation play-offs.

It damages Hibs’ European hopes, since they are sixth and seven points behind Motherwell, who have a game in hand over Dundee this weekend.

Congreve, who is on loan from Swansea City, believes Hibs’ strength indicates that a draw was a good outcome for his club, adding that he had been working on the moment that upset Easter Road fans.

Dundee 3-3 Hibs assessed

Congreve stated on the match, “Yes, 100%, that’s how it felt. It’s a fantastic result against a very good Hibs side.

We wanted to push ourselves further and perhaps finish the game 2-1, but we got there in the end. We’re all really fit lads who maintain themselves in shape. “So we can dig in and really take it to teams in the last 10 or fifteen minutes if we fall behind.

I think it was a really good point at the end. All credit to the lads; we’ll fight till the final minute of any game.

“To be truthful, we can probably improve our game control when we’re ahead, maybe by a goal or two. We all demonstrated amazing character, dug in, and eventually achieved our goal.”

How has Cameron Congreve performed on loan at Dundee from Swansea City?

“To be fair, I work on it quite frequently, simply finding the far corner, and it’s about time I put one in there because I’d like to think it’s one of my strongest suits. I simply try to replicate what I practise every day, more or less.

“I’ve maybe been a little uneven with my finishes this year. But I am constantly working on it and looking for better areas to pick up the ball. Just get closer to the goal and do my best.

I did set a goal target for the season, but I’ll keep it to myself! Can I still achieve it? “Maybe I’m staying positive.”But I’m just focusing on each game, trying to make an impact and help the squad as much as possible.

If I meet my personal goals as well, that’s fantastic. My girlfriend attended the Hibs game, but the entire family is coming up in two weeks for the derby.

It’s my mother’s 50th birthday, so it would be great if I could score in the Derby as well.
