Dundee United v The Spartans OFF despite ‘considerable efforts’ as rearranged date for Scottish Cup clash revealed.

The match between United and Edinburgh was called off due to inclement weather.

Dundee United’s Scottish Cup match against The Spartans has been postponed owing to a waterlogged field at Tannadice.

The turf was inspected around 9.30 a.m., following many days of heavy rain in the region.

At 10 a.m., the surface was ruled unplayable; this is United’s second encounter to be cancelled in the last fortnight, following their Premiership clash with St Mirren.

The match against the League Two leaders is now set for Tuesday, February 17 at 7.45 p.m.

With severe rain wreaking havoc on Scotland’s east coast, Dundee’s scheduled game against Motherwell was rained out on Wednesday, as were St Johnstone versus Ayr United and Aberdeen vs Motherwell, both of which were scheduled for Saturday.

According to a United statement, despite staff attempts to keep the pitch in playable condition, including covering it from Wednesday to this morning, the match has been postponed for player safety reasons.
