EALING HITS 100 LIVING WAGE EMPLOYERS.
There are now 100 firms in Ealing that pay the London Living Wage. These Living Wage recognised organisations collectively employ almost 15,000 people. Almost 1,000 persons have received wage increases as a direct result of their employer’s accreditation.
To commemorate this achievement, Ealing Council has established a Wall of Fame on the Good for Ealing website to highlight employers who lead the way in promoting equitable pay.
The London Living Wage is a voluntary rate. Businesses of all sizes, including sole proprietorships, charities, and non-profit groups, can become accredited as official Living Wage employers.
Benchmark Scaffolding, which has been based in Hanwell since 1995, received an award from the council at a special ceremony for local London Living Wage businesses earlier this year for its outstanding dedication and contribution to the construction industry.
Mike Hanger is Benchmark’s compliance manager. He stated, “The future is very important to us.” We invest in the future and the people who will lead us there. We actively encourage workforce diversity, and ‘green’ is the way forward, with a goal of reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2030.
Winning the Living Wage award has been an excellent way to express gratitude to our team, whose hard work has earned the recognition.”Ealing Council Leader Peter Mason said:
“Reaching 100 London Living Wage employers is a proud milestone for the borough, which reflects our ongoing commitment to help businesses to pay fairly, and supports our status as the first and only Living Wage Place in west London.
This achievement shows the strength of our growing borough-wide network. We remain dedicated to ensuring local people have access to decent living incomes to improve their lives for the better.”
Councillor Kamaljit Nagpal, Cabinet Member for Decent Living Incomes, stated: “With many residents working multiple jobs to make ends meet and employers also under pressure, this initiative and the council’s benefits to assist local employers on their journey to accreditation are more important than ever.
Being London Living Wage recognised can improve your reputation with consumers and funders while also promoting a more stable, productive staff. Thank you to all of the businesses that have supported our fair wage campaign.”
