Eccles, Torp, Rudoni – Coventry City injury roll call ahead of Blackburn Rovers.

Coventry City injury news from CoventryLive as we look at the Sky Blues roll call of casualties heading into Saturday’s home game against Blackburn Rovers.

Coventry City were due back at Ryton on Monday morning as Frank Lampard and his coaches prepare the players for the next block of six games – three at home and three away – before the next international break.

The Sky Blues coach’s main concern this week will be that his four internationals – Haji Wright, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Jay Dasilva, and Joel Latibeaudiere – return to the squad uninjured from their travels.

Tiredness and jet lag could also be an issue for Wright, who is in the USA team for Wednesday’s friendly against Australia in Austin, Texas, which means he has a tight turnaround to come back to the UK and prepare for Saturday’s home game against Blackburn Rovers.

Joel Latibeaudiere is part of Jamaica’s squad that will face Bermuda on Wednesday.

The defender, who frequently plays as a defensive midfielder for his country, was an unused substitute against Curacao on Saturday, and some match minutes would be beneficial to the Sky Blues given that he has just recently recovered from a knee injury that has limited him to one game this season. What’s been said:

Eccles was substituted in the second half at Millwall and failed a late fitness test ahead of Saturday’s 5-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

Lampard stated following the game: “Josh wasn’t quite right with his injury which he had been carrying since Millwall but we’re hopeful he’ll be OK after the break.”

What has been said: After Torpy was forced off at Millwall, Lampard stated: “Torpy had to come off with an ankle injury.” It’s the same ankle that caused him trouble at the end of last season, forcing him to miss a number of games. But hopefully it’s just soreness.

The Dane was in Lampard’s matchday squad at Hillsborough but did not play, as the scoreline allowed him to avoid using the midfielder.

Following the game, the City manager stated, “Torpy didn’t need to come on today, which was a good thing because he has a sore ankle.”
