Eddie Howe sends brilliant message to Martin Dubravka after leaving Newcastle United for Burnley

Newcastle United boss has publicly commented on the sale of Martin Dubravka for the first time after it was confirmed that he had made a permanent shift to Burnley.

The Magpies’ first team roster has witnessed a number of changes this summer, with some veteran players departing Tyneside to seek opportunities abroad.

After five seasons, Callum Wilson departed Newcastle United for nothing, and he is now the new number nine for West Ham United. The striker has the chance to move them up the Premier League standings after developing a habit of scoring goals against the Hammers.

In other news, Sean Longstaff ended his nearly two-decade tenure in the North East by leaving Newcastle for Leeds United. After graduating from Newcastle’s academy, Longstaff played in the black and white stripes for almost 200 games.

After Aaron Ramsdale was signed on loan, Martin Dubravka, another player who had a lengthy stint at Newcastle, moved for Burnley. It was simply not feasible for Dubravka to be a starter at the Magpies, even at the age of 36.

Now that Dubravka’s departure has been finalized, Eddie Howe has spoken out about his feelings over the agreement.

Martin Dubravka is who? The beloved, long-serving goalie for Newcastle United

Martin Dubravka arrives at St James' Park ahead of a Premier League game between Newcastle United and Everton.

Following Newcastle United’s departure, Eddie Howe lavishes Martin Dubravka with adulation.

Newcastle needed to let go of a goalie, particularly once Ramsdale joined the team. Although there are many excellent candidates for the role, Howe has his favorites.

Nevertheless, Dubravka remained a vital member of Newcastle’s first team throughout the years, and during the Magpies’ incredible winter run, he even helped lead the team to the Carabao Cup final. While filling in for Nick Pope from December to February, Dubravka preserved a number of clean sheets and even had a chance to start the cup final at Wembley.

With 179 appearances in all competitions and a Carabao Cup winners’ medal, Dubravka departs Newcastle. Howe praised the Slovakian when he was questioned about him during the post-match news conference after Newcastle’s draw with Espanyol.

“Very excellent in my opinion – a joy to mentor and collaborate with,” Howe remarked. His time at Newcastle was an amazing tale. We appreciate everything he has done for the club. He walks away knowing that he did a fantastic job for us.

This summer, another Newcastle United goalie is expected to go.

Howe is still keen to offload a few more marginal players who are obviously without a future on Tyneside, so the summer clear-out is far from over.

While Matt Targett and Isaac Hayden are free to depart if a better offer is made, their contracts were mutually canceled.

According to a recent update, Newcastle might soon be able to release out-of-favor goalie Odysseas Vlachodimos, who seems keen to leave this summer. Howe reportedly made it obvious that the 31-year-old was not in any way part of his future plans, given he only played 45 minutes of football last season.

Due to PSR concerns, Odysseas is on the verge of signing a loan deal with Sevilla; a permanent move has been ruled out.
