Edgware cake shop given lowest possible food hygiene rating.

A cake store in Edgware has received the lowest possible food hygiene rating during a recent inspection.

Harrow Cakes, located at Varley Parade in The Hyde, acquired a Food Hygiene Rating of 0 – Urgent Improvement Necessary after being inspected by the London Borough of Barnet on September 5, 2025.

The shop, which sells wedding cakes, eggless cakes, and novelty cakes, was advised that significant changes were needed in all important areas, including food hygiene and safety, structural compliance, and management confidence.

A 0 grade indicates that immediate improvement is required to ensure food is prepared and stored securely for customers.

Food hygiene ratings vary from 0 to 5, with 5 indicating “very good” and 0 representing the lowest possible result. Harrow Cakes has been sought for comment.
