Edinburgh bank targeted by vandals as police investigate early morning attack.

Officers were informed to the incident at 4.30 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, and the branch has since been closed as police investigate.

Vandals vandalised an Edinburgh city centre bank early Saturday morning.

The HSBC branch on Hanover Street was vandalised with grey paint that appeared to have been flung over the glass and masonry.

Officers were informed to the incident at around 4.30am on Saturday, December 13, and the branch has now been shuttered while the police do their investigations.

Images from the aftermath of the incident show the branch in darkness while workers repair the damage.

A representative for Police Scotland stated, “Around 4.30am on Saturday, 13 December 2025, we received a report of vandalism to a premises in Hanover Street, Edinburgh.”

HSBC UK apologies for any difficulty caused by an incident at its Hanover Street location, which is presently closed while police investigate.

Our goal is to be back up and running as soon as possible. We apologies to any clients who might have wanted to visit the branch today.”
