Edinburgh driver gets car ‘stuck in ditch’ triggering delays and bus diversions.
Edinburgh passengers were ‘forced to get off the bus’ after a car became stuck in a ditch on a busy main road.
One passenger described the scenes on Clermiston Road North on Tuesday morning as “chaotic” as a blue Ford appeared to get its front wheels stuck in a hole in the road.
Roadworks are currently underway on the busy route, and as the vehicle became stuck, traffic began to build in the area, forcing Lothian to divert services.
A service alert informed passengers: “Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Clermiston Road North and Drum Brae Drive and are instead diverted via Queensferry Road and Drum Brae North in both directions until further notice.”
One passenger was forced to leave the bus after cars were seen turning onto the road and heading in different directions. They stated:
“Buses are being diverted because a car is stuck in a hole. I had to get off my bus, but they had just moved it. However, it caused chaos because no one could pass on either side.
“They’re digging up the road and had wooden boards over the length of the road so I’m not sure how the front of the car ended up with its front wheels in the hole.”
