Traffic is a constant aspect of Edinburgh life; nevertheless, the traffic itself and where it may move has altered over the years.

These amazing photographs of the Capital’s streets in the 1970s were selected from the Evening News archive to demonstrate how different things were back then. The cars are different from today’s, and they can travel down Princes Street.

There are parking meters on the Waverley Bridge. And Market Street appears considerably busier than it is now.
