England flags on lampposts group organises protest in Sheffield city centre.

An organization that sells flags for lampposts is preparing a demonstration in the city center.

According to Raise The Flags Sheffield, the objective is to peacefully protest against the Labour government, which “treats the British people like second-class citizens.”

It also demands that the government ‘protects our rights and safety above all’ and’restore our country to its former beauty’.

It also makes accusations regarding asylum applicants. The demonstration takes place on Saturday, April 4. ‘Raise The Colours Sheffield’ charges £10 for two 3ftx5ft flags, according to its Facebook site.
It is launching a GoFundMe campaign that has raised almost £1,000. A rival organization claims it has removed hundreds of flags from public property, including lampposts.
SCARF, Sheffield Communities Against Racism and Fascism, reported that hundreds of people had called them for guidance.

St George and Union flags first appeared last summer. The practice gained popularity among those who claim to be motivated by patriotism.

Others, however, feel it is intended to frighten minorities and asylum seekers during a period of rising immigration tensions.It is prohibited to attach flags on council-owned facilities such as lampposts and bridges unless permission is obtained by officials.

The Highways Act of 1980 outlaws placing or attaching anything to a public highway without consent, as well as placing anything that could cause danger, obstruction, or distraction.
