European implications for Brighton after Crystal Palace verdict

In November, Albion will travel to Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest following European weeks.

And, if Palace makes it through a play-off round, they now know which competitions those two teams will have participated in.

Palace will play in the Conference League this season after losing their appeal against their demotion from the Europa League to the Court of Arbitration for Sport today.

On July 11, UEFA, the organization that oversees European football, relegated the FA Cup winners after finding that American billionaire John Textor had influence or control over both Palace and French club Lyon as of March 1.

Palace now faces the losers of the Europa League qualifier between Fredrikstad and Midtjylland in a two-leg play-off, instead of being given straight access to the Europa League league phase.

August 21 is the date of the first leg at Selhurst Park, while August 28 is the date of the away leg.

Nottingham Forest is predicted to win the Europa League spot when they visit Selhurst Park for Palace’s first home league match on August 24.

Selhurst Park is Albion’s scheduled visit on Saturday, November 8.

However, if Palace plays, the game will be postponed because of Conference League games on Thursday, November 6.

However, the trip to the City Ground would have to be rescheduled because the Europa League group stage’s fifth matchday is on Thursday, November 27.

European fixtures won’t hinder Palace’s early February trip to the Amex.

However, if the Trent men participate in the knockout phase play-offs, the home game against Forest, which is presently planned for February 28, will be rearranged.
